I'm on a Mission!

I'm going to have to make it happen. I've been skirting the issue for a while but I don't think I can ignore it any longer. What is this dilemma, you may ask? The fact that I DO NOT yet have my very own Red Velvet Cupcake. Everyone has one! Every cupcake store I have been to has their very own version of the red velvet cupcake. Take a look at Sprinkles' red velvet:

Sprinkles has a knack for the flattened frosting look, don't you think? I've had one of their red velvets before and have been utterly pleased.

Here's Heavenly Cupcake's take on the red velvet:
They're very, VERY red and I like the contrast with the white and black. I think that I'm going to need to start taking a closer look at the liners that I use and trying to do a good job of making sure that my liners bring out the best in my cupcakes.

A few others that I've found have been very inspiring:

Just doing a bit of research here and there to see what stands out to me visually. I think I like the deep, rich red of the top cupcake versus the lighter red in the bottom two pictures. I've never made a red velvet cake before (not like that's going to stop me...) so I'll be looking through some recipes, too.

DID YOU KNOW? The origins of the red velvet go back to the Waldorf Astoria Hotel which is why the cake is also known as the Red Waldorf Cake. Just a little tidbit so you can say you learned something today!

  1. I woke up this morning thinking about your cupcakes... thought to myself,... Too early for the sweetest goodness.. I went on with my day, but lunchtime wasn't far away and you better believe cupcakes were on my mind when my hungry tummy started to growl. I had to go on the blog and write you a message!

When I arrived I noticed several pictures of red cupcakes which I knew were new, because hush hush, I've tried almost ALL your cupcakes from the office party. And to my greatest surprise,.. red velvet in the works!!! I hope you will have that recipe on the menu when I place my order! :)

I can't wait to see what other great ideas you're going to be cooking up.

Your story is truly inspiring and your cupcakes are delicious! Thank you soooo much for sharing!!
